Outcast

A witch doing witch stuff while naked. That alone is a reason to watch this.

The latest movie from Colm McCarthy, is a story about a woman and her son who were outcast from their people, and are now being hunted by a man who is trying to kill the boy. Not really a great plot, I know.
But then, there's something weird about them and the people to whom they belonged. They are capable of witchcraft. The spells and their abilities are handled in a very dark but simple way, these are not the witches or wizards of fairy tales.
The whole movie is very dark and that creates a very particular ambient that works very well. It's not really a horror movie, at least I see it as more of a drama, but there are a couple of scenes that can impress the faint of heart.
I have only one complaint, and that's the beast. I know it's central to the plot but it just feels out of place when you take into account the rest of the movie.

But when all is said and done I had a great time while watching the movie. And I can certainly recommend it to anyone.
