The Fighter

Christian Bale back to his Machinist form.

Another great movie, another great part for Christian Bale. I'm only singling him out because I've yet to see him do bad. But the other actors Mark Whalberg and Amy Adams were also at the top of their game.
The movie is about the true story of a wannabe fighter who is being trained by his crack-addicted brother, and his rise to welterweight champion. The chemistry between them is fantastic. The movie is one part about boxing and two parts about family. A very white trash family by the way.
Another great thing is the way the fights are filmed. Those guys are really punching each other. Kudos for Whalberg on the fighting.

Just watch the movie, and stick to the credits to see just how acurate the portrayals of the brothers were by Whalberg and Bale.

Frozen

This is too bad a movie for me to care about posting a picture of it.

There's been a log time since I gave up on a movie halfway... And believe me I've watched a whole lot of crappy movies. But this one was a pain to watch even before they got stuck on that chair.
When you make a movie about three people trapped in the same place just waiting to die, there's really one thing that can make it work. The audience needs to care about what happens to them! Now let me explain why there's no way anyone cared about them:
First these are very one dimensional characters there's nothing interesting about them.
Second if you go up a mountain at night, on a Sunday, when the ski resort is closing then you are stupid and deserve to die.
By minute 30 I couldn't care if they lived or died. I stopped watching then but I assume that the girl lives because this is that lame of a movie.
Only watch this if you hate yourself.

Outcast

A witch doing witch stuff while naked. That alone is a reason to watch this.

The latest movie from Colm McCarthy, is a story about a woman and her son who were outcast from their people, and are now being hunted by a man who is trying to kill the boy. Not really a great plot, I know.
But then, there's something weird about them and the people to whom they belonged. They are capable of witchcraft. The spells and their abilities are handled in a very dark but simple way, these are not the witches or wizards of fairy tales.
The whole movie is very dark and that creates a very particular ambient that works very well. It's not really a horror movie, at least I see it as more of a drama, but there are a couple of scenes that can impress the faint of heart.
I have only one complaint, and that's the beast. I know it's central to the plot but it just feels out of place when you take into account the rest of the movie.

But when all is said and done I had a great time while watching the movie. And I can certainly recommend it to anyone.
